This scholarship is a direct response to the bonnet and durag conversation.

I have worn durags my entire life, including in class at the HBCUs I call home. Competence has always lived in my hands and my mind, not in what covered my scalp.

I understand that colleges and universities have rules, and those rules should be followed. This scholarship is not a call to disregard them. It is simply a reminder that your capability is not determined by scalp coverage.
